As I Lay With My Hands Folded

As I lay with my hands folded,
Memories tucked away and scolded,
Every child, I hear, has lied,
And none have more then I.

As I try so hard to sleep,
And every day I would hope to keep,
One time when I was just me,
And one time when you let me be.

As I stop my flowing tears,
Dry eyes are the least of my fears,
I swear those headlights on the street,
Are actually angels I've been dying to meet.

As I promise one hundred things,
From back when we were kings and queens,
The morning is just a screaming bird,
And I swear I meant every word.

  1. Wow Annie! This one is good, but it makes me sort of sad. Especially the part about the headlights. The first and last stanzas are particularly excellent.
