As I lay with my hands folded,
Memories tucked away and scolded,
Every child, I hear, has lied,
And none have more then I.
As I try so hard to sleep,
And every day I would hope to keep,
One time when I was just me,
And one time when you let me be.
As I stop my flowing tears,
Dry eyes are the least of my fears,
I swear those headlights on the street,
Are actually angels I've been dying to meet.
As I promise one hundred things,
From back when we were kings and queens,
The morning is just a screaming bird,
And I swear I meant every word.
Wow Annie! This one is good, but it makes me sort of sad. Especially the part about the headlights. The first and last stanzas are particularly excellent.
